Madasha Aqoonyahanka Aragtida Nool – MAAN is an independent, non-profit, non-political initiative based in Mogadishu committed to fostering a peaceful environment characterized by good governance through engaging, informing, and involving Somali citizens in understanding existing national agendas and actively participating in ongoing policy planning and discussions. The initiative employs intellectual debate and dialogue forums, as well as extensive public engagement and awareness-raising to enhance the quality and effectiveness of Somalia’s state building and governance. MAAN seeks to bridge the gap between government institutions and citizens by creating a platform for public discourse and exploring options for peacebuilding and democratic state building A core objective of MAAN is to bridge the communication and engagement gap between the government of Somalia and its citizens, particularly the country’s largest constituent, the Somali youth, who constitute nearly 75 percent of the population according to the latest estimates. At MAAN, we firmly believe that establishing an atmosphere of honest interaction between the people (citizens) and the Federal Government as well as the federal member states of Somalia is crucial for achieving lasting peace and fostering a deeper understanding between the government and its people.
